9 Must Visit Dallas Taquerias

9 Must Visit Dallas Taquerias

Walk 5 minutes in any direction in Dallas and you can find a place serving tacos. The Dallas taco scene is getting even more impressive with the recent opening of Revolver Taco Lounge's Dallas Deep Ellum Location. To go with this opening let's celebrate some of the cities best taquerias.

Trompo

Past the bright lights of trinity groves there sits a store front that houses one of the best taquerias in Dallas. Their menu and decor are simple, but their tacos pack a punch of flavor.
Pro tip:  When you visit this establishment you will obviously try the taco de trompo (hence the name), but don't over look the vegetarian taco.

La Banqueta

This DFW chain is pumping out some of my favorite tacos. The bright yellow building that sits near the corner of Carroll and Live oak prides itself on their Suadero, but these snack sized tacos are the perfect size allowing you to try every meat on the menu.
Pro Tip: Don't worry about napkins here. These meats aren't stewed and won't leave behind the murder evidence that other tacos do.

La Salsa Verde Taqueria

In an unassuming gas station in north dallas you will find some of the best surtida (a mix of cow's head) tacos around. Don't believe me? Slide on up to their counter and give these tacos a try for yourself. The meat melts in your mouth.
Pro Tip: Don't go to the Taco Bueno next door.

Las Huastecas

The first time I visited Las Huastecas I could barely find it. Located in a strip mall on live oak, the store fronts new signage leads me to their tacos and pupusas regularly. I would gladly spoon their salsa into my mouth directly, but the trompo tacos cradle it better than any utensil could. The trompo meat looks like you could finger paint with it and the flavors are just as bright as the color. Oh, and did I mention the Tacos are $1!
Pro Tip: Get the pupusas. All of them.... and the Gringa.... or just eat the salsa like it's soup. EVERYTHING HERE IS AWESOME.

Mi Tierrita Taqueria y Pupuseria

If you keep going west past Trompo you will find another trompo taco that shines. The trompo tacos at Mi Tierrita are a blend sweet, spicy, and savory, the holy trifecta. It is a great place to find tacos al vapor, steamed tacos, too.
Pro Tip: If you can't get enough of their trompo meat, try the trompo burger!
*Accepts cash and they might accept card I just can't remember

Taqueria Pinocho

This taqueria is a mecca for meat lovers. To make you drool a little harder, they have all of their meats out on display right when you walk in.
Pro Tip: Bring some tissues because the salsa verde here will clear your sinuses out.

Resident Taqueria

I like to think of my tacos as meat shovels, so I never imagined I would enjoy a cauliflower and kale taco. However, Resident Taqueria has a way with their tacos that will make you want to try any filling they throw your way. The tacos served here are well thought out, well executed, and full of imagination.
Pro Tip: Check out their weekly specials, true taco art.

Taqueria Tiquicheo

This taco joint houses some of the best tortillas in Dallas. Fill them up with the deshebrada de pollo or chicharron. The meats are juicy, but the tortillas here hold it all in so you won't lose a drop of flavor.
Pro Tip: This is a great place to eat things other than tacos too. Not that anyone would ever want to do that.

Revolver Taco Lounge

I'm not sure if I can put into words how much I love revolver taco. Maybe it is their made to order tortillas or maybe it is their succulent duck taco. Today I would have to say it is the pulpo taco. The crisp and tender octopus is paired excellently with charred leeks and a salsa verde.
Pro Tip: Use their street window to get some drunk munchies till 3am on the weekend
*Accepts cash and card

There are so many good taquerias in the area and I wish I could list all of those here to so go out there and find your favorite taquerias!
